Over
the past several years the Men's Prayer Group has met for an hour and a
half on the first and third Saturdays of each month. The group has collectively
decided that these regular meetings will be discontinued in favor of a more
open agenda that stresses service within and beyond Trinity. A new group,
which presently consists of the original active members of the Men's Prayer
Group, has now been formed. It is called the Men's Service in Christ Fellowship
(MSCF).
In the
spirit of the fourth Mark of Discipleship (service at and beyond Trinity),
the MSCF envisions a group of men from TLC, regardless of age or ability
level, teaming in various service needs of the congregation as well as in
selected external projects. The fellowship will meet from time to time,
most likely for breakfast or lunch, to discuss and plan projects of interest.
These meals may also be in conjunction with an actual service project that
the MSCF has selected to do. It is hoped that the leaders from other ministries
within TLC will call upon the MSCF for help and assistance, as might be
required, in the projects they are responsible for. For example, the MSCF
can assist in TLC property cleanups, the Annual Yard Sale, or Sound Room
duties. Some external service projects that the MSCF will likely be involved
with include helping the local Food Bank and Habitat for Humanity. Each
activity will have a leader or coordinator from the MSCF.
The
MSCF membership presently consists of less than ten men; we clearly need
more! As a new ministry, it cordially asks all able-bodied men of TLC to
sign up as a member. This will place your name on the roster and a list
for e-mailed messages regarding MSCF projects. There will be no obligation
on your part to participate in all of the projects; you are free to pick
and chooose those that seem interesting or appropriate for your time and
talents. A sign-up sheet will be placed in the Narthex, or if you wish,
you may e-mail your intent to be a member to either Doug Perkins (Cymru87@verizon.net)
or Jerry Lauchle (GCL1@psu.edu).
